March 2012
Spring is in the air and this month’s photo is of my granddaughter Priya giving a cuddle to our first new lambs at Kilnford. This is the beginning of our sheep and cattle getting back to the Nature Trail.
The very wet conditions over the winter period has meant that we had to move all our sheep and cattle back to the higher ground to give them more space and better shelter. I hope by next month we will be able to bring over our Beltie cows with their new calves. It has been a very busy time recently and Kilnford has passed a few significant milestones. On Sat 10th March we celebrated our first birthday. It is one year since we opened our doors. How time flies! We have also achieved “The Rising Star Award” which was presented by FARMA, the main farm retail organisation in UK. On Tuesday evening 13th March we are featuring on ITV Countrywise Kitchen. We have spent some considerable time with the presenter Paul Heiney and team filming our Belted Galloways and describing the detail that goes in to producing really good beef. The programme includes the TV chef preparing a dish with Kilnford brisket of beef.
All very exciting. I hope you enjoy it.
