October 2011
Hello again.
It has been longer than we had intended since we made contact. We had intended to do a monthly update but we have experienced some technical problems. We are delighted that over 2000 people have supported us and joined our loyalty scheme, but sending over 2000 e-mails has overwhelmed our system. Hopefully we have now overcome that.
I attach an updated photo of Mr Spottie and Ginger Jnr. I expect that most people will be amazed at the speed they have grown. The last photo I posted showed them suckling their mother at a few hours old on the 2nd of June. Our customers enjoy watching them rooting around and having the occasional mock fight over an old apple.
We have had a busy season with the veg. but the weather has been challenging. Not enough sun to ripen some of the crops even in the polytunnel .Our sourcing policy for all our produce is first, we aim to grow it or rear it ourselves , then we source locally, then Scottish , then British and if it has to come from abroad we try and make sure it is ethically produced. I attach a photo of our polytunnel and we are already planning 2 more for next year to grow more of our own veg. I am really pleased that we have finally cleared another planning hurdle and we will now open till 8.30 on a Thursday evening. I hope this will encourage shoppers planning some entertaining at the weekend or just spoiling the family to call in after work and pick up something nice.
I hope you enjoy Kilnford
Jock
